The Symbol Palm Terminal (SPT) 1700 product family is a new series of pen-based terminals that are based on the Palm Computing platform and offer integrated barcode scanning and wireless LAN network capability. Terminal features include an ergonomically ruggedized pocket-size design, a rechargeable 1400 mAh lithium ion battery, an integrated SE900 barcode laser scanner, and Symbol's Spectrum24 wireless LAN radio card. This new series of products is well suited for applications in markets that include work and field force automation, transportation, healthcare, hospitality, warehousing and many other industrial types of work environments.
The combined market leadership of Palm together with Symbol will allow this new product family to become a dominant product solution for many industries requiring real-time, cost effective, mobile data collection.
